Pokkedo Launch Day: Magic at the Tangerang Toy Store

On a busy street corner in Tangerang, there is a small toy shop called “Toko CheckuPointo” Despite its modest size, that day the shop became the center of attention. No colorful balloons decorated the entrance, and a sign read “Pokkedo Launch Day!” displayed in front of the shop. Children, teenagers and adults began to arrive, curious about the cards that had stolen the spotlight on social media. What is Pokkedo?" asked a little boy with sparkling eyes, holding a box as he looked at the funny character illustrations in front of him.

When a buyer opened the first packet, the room was filled with curiosity. ‘Wow, I got the ‘Dede Ray’! See, he's got the ability to belly-flop his opponents with dime jokes!’ exclaimed a teenager, instantly making those around him laugh. One by one, the visitors opened their packets, and the room turned into an arena of hilarity. Some laughed at the absurd characters such as ‘Shan-tei’ means Santai(Enjoy) or ‘Dono’ like (Tidak tahu or Don't know). Parents began to reminisce, while children tried to create new stories with the cards in their hands.

That day, Pokkedo was not just launched as a collectible card. It was born as a symbol of happiness, creativity, and nostalgia. Edo, who saw the happy faces in the shop, felt more confident than ever.

‘Pokkedo is not just a card,’ she thought with a smile. ‘It's a way to connect imagination, laughter, and stories. And this is just the beginning.’

Pokkedo: A Whimsical Journey Through Japanese-Inspired Art" V.3

Inspired by the beauty of Japanese art - from the traditional ukiyo-e painting style to the modern aesthetics of manga and chibi - Pokkedo explores a colourful world of cute and quirky characters. With a creative twist, each parody card is designed to make you smile, combining elements of tradition and whimsy.

To take this vision to the next level, Edo invited Niky, a friend and translator who had studied in Japan, to join the creative process. With Niky's insight into Japanese culture, they created a work that not only entertains, but also respects and combines the artistic values of the Land of the Rising Sun.

Pokkedo X Papakibo Ice Cream

One fine day, a brilliant idea came to Pokkedo creator Edo's mind. After seeing how many people enjoyed his card collection, he thought, ‘Why not combine two things that people love: cute cards and delicious ice cream?’ Excitedly, he contacted Papakibo owner, a local ice cream known for its unique flavours and mouth-watering toppings.

Papakibo has always been known for its innovation in creating fun and bold ice cream flavours, so this collaboration seemed like a perfect fit. They agreed to launch a limited edition ‘Pokkedo Ice Cream Series,’ which combines Papakibo ice cream with cute characters from Pokkedo in the form of special cards.

The day of the launch arrived, and Pokkedo x Papakibo Ice Cream was greeted with great enthusiasm at the Papakibo store located in the city centre. The store was adorned with large posters of Pokkedo characters-from ‘Restless Cat Chocolate’ to ‘Smiling Deer Ice Cream’-that tempted customers to sample the unique flavours like never before.
